Marseille Soap for tadelakt plaster, olive soap – Savon de Marseille

Description

Marseille Soap (Olive Soap) for tadelakt plaster, lime plaster, venetian plaster (grated, ready to use) – Savon de Marseille – 150 gr.

Used to seal and waterproof traditional Moroccan Tadelakt or any other lime plaster (aka venetian plaster, marmorino).
Creates insoluble “lime soaps” bound to the surface of the lime plaster effectively ceiling it. This soap lime plaster sealing method is used all around Mediterranean – often referred to as Quadad (plasters) commonly found in Hammam – bath (baths aka Turkish Baths, Syrian Baths, Egyptian Baths, Moroccan Baths).

Use and Application Notes:

Grated soap is dissolved in the milk of lime until fully suspended into a consistent solution (think of laundry detergent).
Mixed thoroughly and screened, optionally fine screened aged slaked lime putty is added, also can be toned with natural pigments.
Applied with the brush or trowel and polished with a stone (tadelakt) or trowel after it sets (1-8hrs), optionally buffed afterwards.
